John Camardella, Sports Mindset Coach

John Camardella

John Camardella is a public school educator and basketball coach with two decades of experience. He is the all-time winningest boys coach at Prospect High School, where his teams won multiple Division, Conference, and Regional Championships. During his tenure, John helped over 20 players move on to play NCAA basketball at the Division I, II, and III levels. As a player, John was a captain and all-conference player at Illinois Wesleyan University and helped lead his team to two Sweet Sixteens and one Final Four appearance.

In the classroom, John teaches two world religion senior elective courses at Prospect High School, where his students earn dual credit through Eastern Illinois University. This designation for a religion class is a first for public schools in the United States and allows students to earn three undergraduate credits upon completion. John also works as an Education Fellow at Harvard Divinity School, where he trains public school administrators and educators to adopt a more sound approach to teaching about religion.

John has dedicated his career to helping student-athletes find balance during their formative years and channel a courageous spirit in highly competitive and pressured situations. He believes young people have an even greater capacity for work and has dedicated his professional life to helping teenagers achieve their goals.
