I want to genuinely congratulate you on making the decision to either start, or continue, your therapeutic healing process. It takes courage to face your challenges head on, when it can often feel much easier to ignore them and “power through it.” I am an empathetic listener and believe strongly in self-determination. I can provide a listening ear, feedback, advice, and guidance, but I believe your treatment goals need to be directed by you. No one knows your own life and circumstances better than you, and I am grateful to be able to help you on your journey.
Being in this field for a decade, I have been working with older teens and young adults to heal from their past as they move into adulthood. I am excited to continue to work with young adults and adults, as they gain a better understanding of how they interact with the world around them, and what steps we can take to help you reach the goals that you identify. I have extensive experience working with those struggling with depression and anxiety, as well as higher behavioral needs. I also am very skilled in conflict mediation and communication improvement for any couples or families who need support.
I believe in each client as a unique individual, and as such, they may benefit from a variety of different therapeutic frameworks. I utilize a combination of different modalities tailored to what works best for each client. I believe for many that a lot of work can be done through a cognitive behavioral lens, meaning when you are able to identify and understand what causes you to think and feel the way you do, you’ll understand the way you respond to your environment and situations. I also believe in looking at things through the lens of Systems Theory. Your life does not take place in a bubble, and there are external factors that all play a role in your life that provide context. I also am very solution focused. Healthy venting has its place from time to time in the therapeutic process, but it will be important for us to talk about how we can find solutions to the challenges you’re facing as part of your treatment goals.
Outside of my work, I am passionate about spreading kindness into the world and love to play games (board and video). I strongly believe in autonomy of self, which informs my approach to treatment and is why I will always meet the client where they are, and move at their pace. I would love to help you heal and work toward the version of yourself that you want to be.
