JD Waggoner

Graduate Therapist Intern

JD is currently attending the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, pursuing a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. Prior to changing professions to the mental health field, JD earned his Bachelors of Science in Architecture and a Masters of Architecture.

JD developed an interest in mental health and psychology after spending time in therapy working to improve himself and his life. Having a safe and welcoming space to open up and work through personal issues is important in therapy and JD strives to create this environment for his clients. As a cisgender gay male therapist, JD aspires to provide compassion, understanding, and validation, while also encouraging and challenging clients to grow. The highest priority is working towards the collaborated goals established by the client and therapist in sessions.

In his spare time JD enjoys spending time outdoors, going for walks and hikes, reading and watching fantasy and science fiction, playing video games, sketching, and spending time with his partner and chosen family.
