Erik Shookman is a Licensed Social Worker who has experience working with adolescents and adults from all walks of life. He specializes in addressing issues related to depression, anxiety, OCD, phobias, relationships, grief and loss, trauma and addiction.
Erik strongly believes that the foundation of any successful treatment is built upon the therapeutic alliance between client and therapist. He takes a holistic approach to therapy and takes great pride in the working relationships that he cultivates with his clients. He strives to make his clients feel safe, seen, and understood. He believes that everyone deserves to live a fulfilling and dignified life. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but an act of courage.
Erik received his Masters Degree in Social Work from Loyola University in Chicago. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Outside of work, Erik enjoys spending time with his family and friends and making art. He is extremely passionate and dedicated to honing his crafts as a photographer and musician. He has self-published three photography books and writes and records his own music in his home studio. He also loves to read, skateboard, write poetry and spend as much time outside as possible (Chicago weather permitting).
