Sara Stumpos is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and trauma specialist with over 15 years of experience helping adults, teens and families dealing with complex trauma, PTSD, grief, and substance use/misuse. Her extensive expertise and deep understanding of the profound impact that traumatic events can have on daily living has earned her a reputation as a leading trauma expert in her field.
Known for her directive and hands-on style, Sara empowers her clients with tangible skills and coping strategies to facilitate their healing process and move forward. She is committed to helping her clients not only process their trauma but also help them understand how these events affect their current choices and behavior and have shaped their lives. Clients value Sara’s ability to help them realize their agency in making positive changes in their lives and is dedicated to supporting and challenging them to enact those changes.
Prior to coming to Pure Health Center, Sara spent the first seven years of her professional career working in a residential setting with youth and families struggling with the ongoing effects of severe trauma as well as a variety of significant mental health concerns. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Michigan State University and The University of Chicago-SSA, respectively.
Sara enjoys the challenge of a complex board game, listening to a good album (new or old), biking around Chicago, and embarking on adventures to new cities and countries. When relaxing, you can find her snuggling with her grumpy rescue shih tzu, Dijkstra.
