Graduate Therapist Intern
Monica is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health
Counseling at Loyola University. She graduated from Duke University with a B.A.
in Psychology and a Certificate in Markets & Management.
Monica has a strong interest in trauma-informed therapy and understands the
importance of considering one’s life experiences to help them feel physical and
emotional safety. She can provide and hold space for individuals to safely
process and experience their feelings. She trusts each client’s ability to reflect
and believes in working together to create the right pace for healing. Monica likes
to use a mindfulness approach including ACT to increase distress tolerance, and
to help individuals move through the world feeling grounded and present. She
also likes to use Existential Therapy to help clients work towards experiencing
what is meaningful to them, and to help them discover when they can exercise
their freedom of choice. Monica is keen to work with individuals experiencing
depression, PTSD, anxiety, and life transitions.
Monica played Division I tennis as a student-athlete. Her athletic career taught
her many life lessons that she now applies professionally and in her everyday
life. In her free time, she enjoys taking modern/contemporary dance classes,
mustering up the energy to exercise, and taking care of her angry hedgehog.
