Shannon Nugent

Graduate Intern Therapist

Shannon is dedicated to supporting individuals from a variety of backgrounds with a special focus on working with adolescents and adults navigating complex anxiety, panic disorders, high-achievers, and trauma.  Shannon's personal journey with chronic illness has made her particularly attuned to the unique challenges and experiences of this population and has formed her passion for working with individuals living with a chronic illness.

Shannon emphasizes non-judgment, curiosity, and empathy to create a warm environment where clients can openly share their stories and work towards meaningful change.  Her  approach integrates somatic techniques, mindfulness, and cognitive processing to strengthen clients’ mind and body connection, thereby fostering greater emotional regulation and self-awareness. She incorporates value clarification and identity exploration to assist clients in setting goals that align with their authentic selves. 

Shannon is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northeastern Illinois University. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Elmhurst College and a Master of Science in Student Affairs and Higher Education from Indiana State University. Additionally, she is a 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher.

In her free time, Shannon enjoys long walks, good coffee, reading, and spending time with her two pet rabbits, Oliver and Beatrice.
