James (he/they) works with adolescents and adults who may be experiencing anxiety, sports anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use concerns, life transitions, or questions around identity. He strives to create a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space where clients can feel comfortable showing up as their authentic selves. James believes that therapy should feel like a space where clients can be themselves, feel heard, and work through challenges at their own pace.
His approach to therapy is collaborative and person-centered, with an emphasis on building a genuine therapeutic relationship. James believes therapy is a partnership and works alongside clients to better understand their experiences, recognize their strengths, and find coping strategies that feel realistic and meaningful to them. As a transgender therapist, they are especially passionate about creating an affirming and supportive space for LGBTQ+ clients. He enjoys helping clients explore their identities and life experiences while feeling seen, heard, and accepted for who they are.
James also has a strong passion for art therapy and enjoys incorporating creativity into the therapeutic process when it feels right for the client. They believe that not everything we experience is easy to put into words and art can provide another way to express, explore, and process thoughts and emotions. Whether through painting, drawing, or other creative activities, James enjoys helping clients discover new ways to connect with themselves and their experiences.
James earned his Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from Adler University and his Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design with a concentration in Studio Art from the University of St. Francis. During his clinical training, they gained experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, substance use concerns, and identity-related concerns. James enjoys getting to know each client as an individual and tailoring therapy to their unique personality, needs, and interests.
Outside of work, they enjoy playing Dungeons & Dragons, getting lost in a good video game or movie, painting, and exploring nature. He also loves spending time at home cuddling with their cat, Sarno.
